Options Education Group

The Options Education Group is a single session group that focuses on the impact of substance use on physiology, perception and decision making. The group also discusses the progression of use and ways to reduce the risk of substance use. The group focuses on the effects and use of alcohol and marijuana, however other substances are discussed as relevant. Participation in the Options Education Group may be a self-referral or the outcome of an Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities referral. Options Education Groups are facilitated by one therapist and the average number of members can range from 4-12 students. Confidentiality is strictly respected.

If you are interested in joining, visit or contact the counseling center for an initial consultation appointment to discuss group with a therapist. If an Options group is recommended, the therapist will then take the next steps needed to get you scheduled. If you are currently seeing a therapist at the Counseling Center, talk with your therapist about the group and how it could benefit you. A group orientation is not required to attend an Options Education Group but a student should have completed an initial consultation during the current semester.
