The CONTACT 24 hour, toll free hotline provides free, anonymous, confidential 24-hour telephone counseling, crisis intervention, and information and referral to persons in distress or crisis. Certified volunteers assist callers with a wide range of problems and issues

Locating basic resources such as food, shelter, employment, or health care may mean calling dozens of phone numbers, then struggling through a maze of agencies and services to make the right connections. The 211 system helps residents find resources by dialing a simple three-digit number.



The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) young people ages 13-24.

Brownell Center

Brownell Center is the largest community based outpatient mental health provider in Onondaga County serving clients of all ages who are experiencing emotional or behavioral problems.   Services are offered at 1045 James Street, in ten Syracuse City Schools as well as the Liberty office located in Oswego County. Individual, family and group therapy services, medication evaluations and medication management, crisis services and case management are offered.

A team of psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers, along with skilled nurses and paraprofessionals, provides comprehensive outpatient psychiatric services for adults, adolescents, and children. Treatment includes reality therapy, group therapy combined with individual psychotherapy, family counseling, vocational counseling, and recreational and diversional activity. Offices are located downtown and in Lyncourt. Inpatient psychiatric services are also available.

The Adult Psychiatry Clinic staff works with patients to ensure progress in restoring their health and well-being through individual therapy, group therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, limited social work services, and medication management. They specialize in such areas as eating disorders, dialectical behavioral therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
